DALE F. "DAYTONA" CUMMINGS

Dale F. "Daytona" Cummings, 73, of Marion, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family. The family will greet friends from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 8, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral services will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home on Monday, conducted by Pastor Anthony Saul.
Daytona was born Sept. 10, 1944, in Endicott, N.Y., the son of Hugh and Norvelle (Reynolds) Cummings. He was a member of the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division. Daytona was an over-the-road trucker for over 30 years, then he was in the construction business. He attended Squaw Creek Baptist Church. One of his favorite pastimes was singing karaoke.
Dale is survived by his wife, Aleta; two daughters, Felicia LaCoste of Erie, Pa., and Gladys (Brian) Dunn of Marion; four grandchildren, Seth, Alex, Christian and Kayla; and four siblings, Nancy Humpris, Joy Hallam, Donald Light and Dennis Light.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Sharon Lobdell; and one brother, Edward Cummings.
A memorial fund has been established in Daytona's name.
