Dale Edward Burdick, 57, of Belle Plaine, passed away after a long battle with cancer on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018, in Marion. Per his wishes, he will be cremated, and a camping trip will be planned in the summertime to celebrate his life.
Dale was born March 8, 1960, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Ernest and Dorothy (Kelley) Burdick. He graduated from Linn-Mar High School in 1979. Dale married Jody Bunney in 1986 and they later divorced; however, they maintained a close friendship throughout life. Dale owned and operated Burdick Construction for many years. He was very adventurous and loved camping, canoeing and spending time with friends and family. Dale enjoyed watching old Western movies and having a glass of Ten High.
He is survived by his daughter, Morgan (Josh) Eggers of Bellevue; stepdaughter, Annie Kirchoff of Cedar Rapids; brother and partner in crime, Doug (Terresa) Burdick of Temple, Texas; sister, Sharon Barrett of Windsor, Colo.; nephew, Josh Burdick of Austin, Texas; nieces, Alex Burdick of Temple, Texas, and Darlene (Errol) Schroeder of Windsor, Colo.; friends, Jody (Michael) Toms of Marion; and granddoggies, Theo and Maya.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Dorothy Burdick; and brother, David Burdick.
