D. Jean Hastings, 75, of Ankeny, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014. A memorial
service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd.) in Ankeny. A
visitation will be held immediately following the service.
Jean was born Jan. 10, 1939, in Kansas City, Mo., to Harry and Alma. She graduated from Polo High School in 1958. In her first marriage, to Eugene Fisk, she had two wonderful children, Karen and Kevin. Jean married Don Hastings in 1970 and gained three daughters, Anne, Lisa and Gayle. Don and Jean made beautiful porcelain dolls and even taught others about their creative passion. It was a tradition for the kids and grandkids to receive dolls as presents.
Jean always enjoyed spending time with family, watching her favorite TV shows and shopping for hours. She
truly loved
giving more than receiving.
She is survived by her brother, Edwin (Amy); her children, Anne (David), Lisa (Roger) and Gayle; her grandchildren, Destiny, Rachael (Jeff), Robin (Anthony), Nathan (Alicia), Rhonda, Stephanie (Matt), Amanda, Adam, Rebecca, Aubrey and Garrett; and eight great-grandchildren.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Larry (brother), Don (husband), Kevin (son) and Karen (daughter).
