CYRIL SCHULTZ

Cyril G. "Cy" Schultz, 91, of Manchester, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at the Regional Medical Center in Manchester.
He was born March 12, 1923, the son of Joseph and Lena (Meyer) Schultz in Holy Cross. Cy attended
rural school in Dubuque and Delaware counties.
He served honorably in the United States Army.
On Sept. 1, 1951, Cy was united in marriage to Pauline Rose Connolly at St. John's Catholic Church in Delhi. Five children were born to this union. Together they farmed west of Greeley, until they retired to Manchester in 1992. Cy worked at the Manchester Cemetery from 1993 to 2008. In 2010, he moved to the Meadows.
Cy was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and playing cards with friends.
Cy is survived by his five children, Dennis (Lori) Schultz of Ankeny, Diane (Leo) Monaghan of Manchester, Don (Deb) Schultz of Marion, Darlene (Larry) Lahr of Cedar Rapids and Deb Schultz of Cedar Rapids; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, with one on the way; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Kaiser of Manchester and Inez Schultz of Dubuque.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline in 2007; his three brothers, Virgil, Eldon and Lawrence; his sister, Rita Mae Kaiser; and his parents, Joseph and Lena Schultz.

Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Friday, May 2, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manchester. Visitation: 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home, Manchester, where there will be a 3 p.m. Scripture service. Friends may also call from 10 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the church. Interment with Military Rites: St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Manchester.
Special thanks to the staff and residents of the Meadows. They became a second family to Cy.
