Cyndi Shaffer, 54, of Marion, passed away with her family by her side on November 15, 2024. Cancer took Cyndi, but neither it nor any other obstacle she faced ever stood a chance against her fierce strength and kindness. She exuded love and compassion for her family and friends; she brought joy to those who knew her.
Cyndi was born on October 27, 1970, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Paul and Diana (Boyington) Ganske. She graduated from Oelwein High School. Cyndi had worked for MCI/Verizon for over 30 years. She will be remembered for her generosity and planning fundraisers and benefits for people in need. She was a fan of the Green Bay Packers. Cyndi loved socializing with her Pitchers family in Marion.
Survivors include her children, Ashley (Nate) Brady of Springville, Allie (Nick) Neelans of Marion, Jacob Shaffer of Marion, and Jordan (Jace) Shaffer of Marion, and Brooklynn Henderson of Marion; mother, Diana Ganske of Marion; father, Paul Ganske of Oelwein; grandchildren, Jayden, Masen, Lynlee, Oaklyn, and Karley; sister, Lisa (Scott) Langerman of Cedar Rapids; half-brother, Stephen Neubauer of Davison, MI; son-in-law, Andrew Neelans of Cedar Rapids; and special friend, Matt Masters of Cedar Rapids.
Preceding her in death were grandparents, Mary and Paul Ganske and Eileen Cue; her brother, Mark Ganske; former spouse, John Shaffer; and friend, Jeff Schulte.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, November 22, 2024, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be held Friday, November 22, 2024, from 9:00 AM until the time of service at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories.
