Curtis, John Wayne
John Wayne Curtis, 75, a longtime resident of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at Grandview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Oelwein. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids, followed by a graveside service at 10:30 a.m. at Linwood Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian of Cedar Rapids; a son, Guy Curtis of Cross City, Fla.; a daughter, Chris Curtis of Magnolia, Texas; a stepdaughter, Leslie (Dean) Nyitrai of Truman, Ark.; a stepson, Don (Kathy) Robinett of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a grandson, Richard Curtis of Florida; three stepgranddaughters, Breanna and Faith Nyitrai and Jessica Robinett; and a stepgrandson, Trevor Robinett.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Curtis; his father and stepmother, Guy and Gladys Curtis; and a brother, Weston Curtis.
John was born Dec. 17, 1934, the son of Guy and Dorothy Curtis. On Dec. 21, 1974, he married Vivian Mae Harms. He worked as a handyman for 30 years.
