Curtis Ballard
CURTIS BALLARD
Reinbeck
Curtis William Ballard, 60, of North Hollywood, Calif., formerly of Reinbeck and Ely, passed away July 21, 2015, at his home after a brave battle with cancer. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 28 at First Presbyterian Church, Reinbeck, where a
memorial service will be 1 p.m. Aug. 29.
No flowers, please. Memorials may be directed to the family.
A 1973 graduate of Reinbeck High School, Curt was state wrestling champion at 167 pounds.
He was a heavy equipment operator. In 1993, Curt moved to Ely, marrying Patty on July 24, 1999. In 2000, they moved to California. Curt worked as a heavy equipment operator for his cousin, Steve, in a major building project and this was professionally the happiest time of his working career. The BEST day of his life was when he married Patty and became a father to her four children.
He enjoyed music, singing and playing his guitar and fiddle. He loved life and always had a smile on his face. You would often find him singing love songs to Patty, including "In This Life" by Collin Raye. He loved the Green Bay Packers and enjoyed a Budweiser or two.
He was an honest, carefree man, who will be missed by all those he leaves behind. He always said, "You are not here for a long time, you are here for a good time."
Curt is survived by his loving wife, Patty; children, Matthew (Jenny) Malatek, Mary (Dale) Barnard, Michelle Malatek and Paula Malatek; grandchildren, Klara, Oliver, Ryan, Allision and Max; sister, Janet Bowen; brother, Doug (Carolyn); and Alf, his beloved dog.
