Cunningham, Erin Lea
Erin Lea Cunningham, 35, passed away peacefully Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday Sept. 1, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Des Moines. Interment will be held at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the church, with a vigil service at 7 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to an education fund for Erin's children or House of Mercy, Des Moines.
Erin was a 1994 graduate of Dowling High School and a 2003 graduate of Mercy College of Health Sciences with a degree in nursing, which fulfilled a lifelong dream.
Erin is survived by three children, Michaela Cunningham of Des Moines, and Calen and Cameron Downs and their father, Jeff, all of Cedar Rapids; her parents, Michael and Marcia Cunningham of Des Moines; sister, Megan (Eric) Weisenhorn of Des Moines; brother, Kevin Cunningham of Des Moines; nieces, Anna Grace and Ella Weisenhorn of Des Moines; grandparents, William J. Cunningham and Virginia Borcyk, both of Omaha, Neb.; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
