Cummings, Lori Lee

Lori Lee Cummings, 52, died Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids from complications of a heart condition. A memorial service will be held at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Monday, March 1, with visitation from 1 p.m. until service time, with Pastor Dennis Sackett officiating. Inurnment will be at Bear Creek Cemetery at a later date. 

 Lori was born Dec. 17, 1957, in Vinton, Iowa, to Fred and Mildred Long Kisling. She attended Urbana schools and graduated from the nursing program at Hawkeye Community College. On Oct. 18, 1986, she married Craig Cummings at Prairie Creek Christian Church. Lori worked as a CNA and a nurse for more than 25 years in nursing homes in the Vinton and Cedar Rapids area. 

 She is survived by her husband, Craig, and her mother, Mildred, both of Vinton; daughters, Kelli and Danielle Cummings; five stepchildren, Bill, Sara and Eric Cummings and Brett and Chris Sorrell; sister, Beth Crouch of Toddville; 10 grandchildren and 10 nieces and nephews.

 Lori was preceded in death by her father, Fred; her sister, Kristi; brother, Ken; and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clark Long and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Kisling. 

 In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
