Cumberlin, Mary E.
Mary E. Cumberlin, 82, of Vinton, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at the Vinton Lutheran Home. A funeral service celebrating Mary's life will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at the Shueyville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bruce Wittern officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include her children, Terri (Bill) Nekvinda of Cedar Rapids, Sandy Reid of Olin, Gary (Pat) Cumberlin of Bristolville, Ohio and Penny (Rick) Ohrt of Vinton; brothers, Jack Allen of Clearwater, Fla. and Dick (Ardy) Allen of Arnold, Calif.; grandchildren, Kevin, Kyle and Kelly Nekvinda, Chad Kanke and Jennifer Skalsky, Lisa Campbell and Dustin Cumberlin, Chrissy and Jeff Cumberlin, Jama Robinson and Stefanie Ohrt; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marion Clifford Cumberlin; and son, Junior Cumberlin.
Mary Elizabeth Rogers was born May 27, 1930, in Prescott, Ariz., the daughter of William and Leola (Carr) Rogers. On June 27, 1948, she married Marion “Clifford Cumberlin. He died Oct. 25, 1999. Mary worked as a test repair operator at Rockwell Collins for many years, until retiring in 1983. She was a member of the Woodcarver's Association and self taught artist, enjoyed traveling, fishing, horses and was an avid animal lover. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
Memorial's may be sent in her name to the Alzheimer's Association.
