Croy, Mary Lou
Mary Lou Croy, 85, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, June 14, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center after a brief illness. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday. Per Mary Lou's request, the casket will be closed.
Survivors include her son, Gene and his wife, Becky, and a grandson, Mitchell, both of Amana. She is also survived by special friends, Marj Nejdl, Marge Pace and Joyce Connelly.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Catherine; and her husband.
Mary Lou was born May 30 1927, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Joseph and Ruth (Vavra) Stolba. She attended Coe College and later married Gene Croy on June 29, 1955, in Iowa City. He died in 2001. Mary Lou worked with her family at the Tasty Pastry Shop for over 25 years.
She was a member of C.S.A. Lodge Prokop Velky, Sokol and the Czech Ladies Educational Society. She enjoyed volunteering at the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library and going with her friends to the casino.
Mary Lou will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mary Lou's son, daughter-in-law, Becky, and well as her grandson, Mitchell, were so dear to her and cared for her with never ending love.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
