Crow, Paul 'Eddie' Edward
Paul “Eddie” Edward Crow, 88, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Ottumwa, passed away in the loving presence of family at 7:15 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, at Silvercrest Assisted Living in Anamosa, Iowa.
He was born June 29, 1924, in Ottumwa, Iowa, to Earl and Cordie Berniece Stephens Crow. He married Marian “Eva” Killen on Sept. 6, 1942.
Paul joined in the U.S. Navy in 1943 and landed in Normandy, France on D-Day. After returning from the war, Paul worked for the City of Ottumwa for 20 years, until he retired in 1986.
In his retirement, Paul enjoyed traveling with his wife to visit their friends and family. Paul and Marian also loved fishing in Iowa's lakes and farm ponds. He and his wife were active members of the Ottumwa Baptist Temple for many years.
Surviving are his wife of nearly 70 years, Marian; two sons, Carl (Colleen) Crow of Cedar Rapids and the Rev. Nick (Loretta) Crow of Pontiac, Mich.; six grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Alice Williams.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa with his son, the Rev. Nick Crow officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m. Thursday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
