Cross, Karl 'Dick'
Karl “Dick” Cross, 73, of 3108 Outlook Dr. SW, Cedar Rapids, died March 13, 2010, at his home following an extended illness. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel. Pastor Darran Whiting of Calvary Baptist Church will officiate.
Surviving are his wife, Joan; children, Kenneth “Randy” Cross of Cedar Rapids and Michael Cross and wife Shelly of Scottsdale, Ariz.; stepdaughter, Lisa Moeller (Jeff) of Chicago; grandchildren, Micaela and Marli; stepgrandchildren, Luke and Tori; siblings, Bob Cross (Judy) of Cedar Rapids, Shirley Wiggins of Cedar Rapids and Serena Crowe of Marion; sisters-in-law, Sandy Cross and Joan Cross; his cat, Tiger; as well as several nieces and nephews and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Jim and Larry Cross and Marilyn Warner; and Hattie Cross.
Dick was born May 1, 1936, in Vinton, the son of George Elward and Pauline Cross. He worked for IWI Motors and Lanter Courier service. He also had worked many years in the grocery industry. He married Donna Chittick on Nov. 15, 1959; they were later divorced. He married Joan O'Brien Wray on Oct. 15, 1992, in Kahoka, Mo. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. In earlier years he enjoyed motorcycles, riding dirt bikes, and snowmobiling. More recently, he enjoyed traveling, crossword puzzles, and frequenting the casino with family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Luke's Hospice in Dick's honor.
