Crawford, Thomas G.
Thomas G. Crawford, 82, of 733 Winterberry Pl. NE, died Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, at St. Luke's Hospital from complications of surgery. Private family services: 11 a.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be no public visitation. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Alice; a daughter, Cindy (Gene) Dooley of Marion; two sons, Thomas of Edmonton Alberta, Canada, and Denny (Darlene) of Clinton, N.C.; and a brother, Jim (Beverly) of Midway, Ark. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four brothers-in-law, Clarence Brown, Lindy (Linda) Brown, Billy (Jeanette) Brown and George (Marge) Brown; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn (Jim) Gambrall.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother-in-law, Harold Brown.
Tom was born Nov. 25, 1926, in Des Moines, the son of Thomas and Eunice Darby Crawford. He married Alice M. Brown on May 13, 1947, in Des Moines. Tom was a pipe fitter for over 50 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Local No. 33 of the Pipe Fitters Union and proudly served in the Navy during World War II. Tom was an avid reader, enjoyed working on his truck and was a perfectionist; so whatever job he did he did it right.
A memorial fund has been established in Tom's name.
