Craig Preston Hargrave, 64, affectionately known as Skeeter gained his wings of Glory on Dec. 30, 2022.
A celebration of Craig’s life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023, at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City, where a service will be held at 2:30 p.m. The service may be viewed on Zoom. The Zoom link may be found on the Tribute Wall on Craig’s obituary page at www.lensingfuneral.com.
Craig grew up in Iowa City and as an adult lived in several places around the Midwest and South. He had returned to Iowa to retire and enjoy once again life in Iowa City.

Craig, “Skeeter” was born in Ft. Hood, Texas, on Aug. 6,1958. He was an amazing man who spread his brand of love and laughter in so many ways. He and his wife, Karin adored their children, Korene and Kyle. They also provided a home for many children through foster care. Craig was a father, grandfather, godfather, Coach and Buddy to many children who were nourished by his love, kindness, encouragement and enthusiasm for life. To know Craig was to have a friend for life. He had a remarkable love for people and was always ready to help.
He is survived by his children; Korene of Ames, Iowa, and Kyle of Minneapolis, Minn.: his grandsons, Jeremiah and Fabian; his siblings, Christine (Leo), Carl, Clayton and Conn,e; nieces, Chrystal, Alaysha and Autumn; and many, many friends who he considered family.
Craig was preceded in death by his wife, Karin; his parents, Bill and Edith; and his nephew, Antonio.
