CRAIG ALLAN SCHMINKE SR.
Belle Plaine
Craig Allan Schminke Sr., 65, of Belle Plaine, Iowa, passed away Dec. 22, 2020, in his home.
Craig was born Jan. 7, 1955, to Glenn and Lita (Albers) Schminke. He married Sherri Swearengin (Kozik) on Oct. 27, 1979, and together they had two children, Craig Allan Schminke Jr. and Brooke Renee Ivester (Schminke). The couple later divorced, but were dedicated to raising their children together. Throughout the last 12 years, Craig devoted his love to his significant other, Lisa.
He was employed with Car Quest in Belle Plaine for many years and would later work out of Ankeny, Iowa, before retiring.
Craig was a dedicated Oakland Raiders fan who proudly wore his black and white hat everywhere. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson on a warm summer day and stopping in for a cold beer at the local tavern. Above all things, Craig was most proud of being a father and grandpa.
He is survived by his son, CJ (Jessica) Schminke and their three children of Mount Vernon; daughter, Brooke (Anthony) Ivester and their three children, Kael, Ashlyn and Kelton, currently residing in Virginia; brother, Doug (Joanne) Schminke of Belle Plaine; and family, Bridgette (Jacob) and Abram Miller of Centerville, Marlee Schminke of Missouri, Melissa (Jason) and Jacob Weldon of Nevada and Lisa Wach of Belle Plaine.
Craig was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Lita Schminke.
A family viewing will take place Dec. 30, 2020, followed by a private service at Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.neuhausfuneralservice.com.
The family would like to send a special thank-you to the Belle Plaine EMS team and police station for their dedication to exceptional care and compassion during this most difficult time.
