COURTNEY S. MAYNE Marion Courtney S. Mayne, 77, of Surprise, Ariz., formerly of Marion, died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017, in his home following a battle with multiple myeloma. A memorial will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, located at 7121 Mount Vernon Rd. SE, Cedar Rapids. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Joan Mayne of Surprise; their children, Scott Mayne, Stephanie Sorensen and Chad Mayne; grandchildren include Ben O'Malley, Jennifer Rodriguez, Brady O'Malley and Amanda Werts; and great-grandchildren, Sammy and Silas Werts and Chloe O'Malley. Courtney was born May 4, 1940, to Althea and Edwin Mayne. He graduated from George Washington High School in 1958. He worked in Cedar Rapids for 32 years at National Oats. Courtney was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1956 and served as an elder in the congregation. One of the highlights of this past year was when his beloved baseball team won the World Series. Go Cubbies! Courtney was well loved and will be missed by countless friends and family.
