Costello, Marjorie L.
Marjorie L. Costello, 89, died on Sunday, May 2, 2010, at the Hiawatha Care Center, following an extended illness. There will be private family services. Marge will be cremated and buried in the Berlin Cemetery, located in the rural Eldora area. Arrangements entrusted to the Cremation Society of Eastern-Central-Western Iowa.
Surviving is a daughter, Barbara (Bill) Crosser of Robins; three grandchildren, David Crosser (Deb) of Robins, Greg Crosser (Martha) of Edmond, Okla., and Deb Buntz (Brad) of Robins; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
She is also survived by two sisters, Bernice Heard of Steam Boat Rock, and Jessie Reece of Las Vegas, Nev.; and a brother-in-law, Charles Huffman of Davenport.
Marge was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Ruby Huffman; and husbands, Clifford Whigham and Merle Costello.
Marge was born on Jan. 25, 1921, in New Providence, Iowa, the daughter of Numa and Nettie (Norman) Reece. She graduated from Clemons High School in Clemons, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Clifford Whigham in 1938. Clifford was killed in action in 1945, while serving in the Army. She remarried in 1949 to Merle Costello and spent the next 49 years on a farm just east of Owasa, Iowa. In recent years, she had lived in the Marion area and most recently in Hiawatha.
A special thank you goes to Promise House and Hiawatha Care Center for the loving care that was given to Marge and her family the past three years. Also, a special thank you to Pastor Dale Holloway of Living Hope Wesleyan Church for spending the time he did praying with and visiting Marge.
