Corrine "Kay" Sutton, 74, a resident of Bickford Cottage, Marion, died Saturday, May 31, 2014. Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, Ascension Lutheran Church, Marion. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 2, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. Burial: 2:30 p.m. at Chester Cemetery in Grinnell,
Iowa.
Survivors include her children, Scott (Dawn) Sutton of Mechanicsville and Sheryl Dolley of Marion; grandchildren, Justin, Ali, Alex, Mitchell (Sarah) and Jenna (Matt); a sister, Phyllis Wright of Keota; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald; her parents, Carroll and Mable Wittman; her in-laws, Beckham and Alice Sutton; a brother-in-law, Roger Wright; a son-in-law, Scott Dolley; her grandson, Julian; and special dogs, Sam, Sasha and Soya.
Kay was born May 3, 1940, the daughter of Carroll and Mable (Sprague) Wittman, in Cedar Rapids. On June 15, 1963, she married Ronald Sutton in Marion. Kay was a preschool teacher at Jack & Jill Preschool for 15 years. Following her retirement from Jack & Jill, she worked at O.G. Waffle Book Co. that was owned by her special friend, Nancy Jennings.
Kay was a member at Ascension Lutheran Church in Marion. She was also a member of the "Keenagers." Kay was an avid book reader and a big supporter of Marion Indian athletics.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Anita and the staff at Bickford Cottage for all their loving care.
A memorial fund has been established in Kay's memory.
