Cornwell, Eileen E.
Eileen E. Cornwell, 92, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Dec. 16, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Jude Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by Father Mark Reasoner. Family will greet friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where a vigil service will begin at 2 p.m., and from 9:30 a.m. to service time at the church on Monday. Burial: Mount Calvary, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Deacon Fred Cornwell of Adair, Gary (Claudia) Cornwell of Germantown, Tenn., Michael (Mindy) Cornwell of Cedar Rapids, and Patricia (John) Balk of Prairie du Chien, Wis.; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Ray Crowley of Texas; and special friend, Mary Orth.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Russell “Bud”; three brothers; a sister; and daughter-in-law, Patricia Cornwell.
Eileen was born February 15, 1919, the daughter of M.J. and Mayme (McCray) Crowley, on a farm near Coggon, Iowa. On August 27, 1941, she was united in marriage to Russell “Bud” Cornwell. He died in 2000. A member of St. Jude Catholic Church, Eileen enjoyed life and her family.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Jude Catholic Church or Mercy Hospice in memory of Eileen.
