Cornwell, Earl E.
Earl E. Cornwell, 79, of Bentonville, Ark., formerly of Owasso, Okla., and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at Circle of Life Hospice, Bentonville. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 26, at First Baptist Church of Centerton, Ark., by Stuart Bell and Dennis Cornwell. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Rollins Funeral Home, Rogers, Ark.
Survivors include his wife, Lila J. Cornwell; three children, Vickie (Sonny) Schrock of Central City, Dennis (Laura) Cornwell of Mokane, Mo., and Todd Cornwell of Bentonville, Ark.; a brother, Richard Cornwell of Grove, Okla.; sisters, Joyce (Robert) Koett of Mount Pleasant and Karen (Jerry) Pleasant of Burlington; his grandchildren, Derek Schrock, Jesse Cornwell, Brandon Schrock, Brynn Schrock, Joel Cornwell, Austin Cornwell and Braden Cornwell; and great-grandchildren, Hunter Schrock, Rylee Schrock, Ashlyn Willits, Millie Cornwell, Aiden Schrock, Colton and Austin Reid.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orval and Alma Cornwell; brother, Donald Cornwell of Burlington; and infant son, Michael R. Cornwell.
Earl was born Dec. 31, 1930, in Winfield, Iowa, and graduated from Burlington High School in 1949. He served in the United States Naval Reserve following graduation. Earl married Lila J. Welch on Jan. 1, 1956. He started working at Rockwell Collins in 1957 and retired from Rockwell International in 1990. Earl was a member of First Baptist Church, Centerton, and previously had been a member of the Lions Club and Monroe Township Volunteer Fire Department in Toddville.
Earl's interests included traveling, camping, fishing, and reading. He had a love for people and demonstrated a quick wit that endeared many. Earl was involved in the lives of his grandchildren and enthusiastically supported the Iowa Hawkeyes.
The family appreciates all the loving care provided by the dialysis technicians, doctors, and nursing staff over the last 13 1/2 years and the staff at the Circle of Life Hospice.
