Cornette, Rachel L.
Rachel L. Cornette, 99, of 3950 Cummings Ford Rd., Center Point, Iowa, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 6, 2010, at Sacred Heart Church, Walker, by Father Ardel Barta. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, where a vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Burial: Sacred Heart Cemetery, Walker.
Survivors include her daughters, Ramona (Donald) Williams of Marion, and Joyce Monck of Marion; six grandchildren, Shelly (Fred) Morris of Chippewa Falls, Wis., Bryan Williams of Clear Lake, Traci (Paul) Gavin of Marion, Jeff (Shielly) Monck of Monticello, Terry (Patti) Monck of Monticello, and Jodi (Keven) Hendrickson of Robins; 13 great-grandchildren, Spencer, Trent, Meghan, Kailee, Brittany, Logan, Amanda, Nikelle, Brandon, Nicole, Paige, Andrew and Carson; brother-in-law, Vernon Brecht; and many nieces and nephews.
Rachel was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank; son-in-law, Leonard Monck; and siblings, Gentil Lyphout, Arshel Lyphout, Henry Lyphout and Selma Brecht.
Born June 27, 1911, in Moline, Ill., Rachel was the daughter of Camiel and Pharaielda (Deprez) Lyphout. On Dec. 30, 1931, she was united in marriage to Frank Cornette. He died Jan. 10, 1995.
Rachel's joys were gardening, crocheting, embroidering and making homemade bread.
