Corey Jay Yardley, 26, of Victor, formerly of Marengo, died Monday, July 20, 2015, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Funeral services: 10 a.m. Thursday, July 23, at Iowa Valley High School Auditorium, Marengo, with the Rev. Matt German officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be contributed to the Special Olympics or the Marengo Recreation Commission in Corey's honor.
Corey is survived by his mother and stepfather, Wendy and Jamie Claeys of Victor; his brothers, Cullen Yardley of Victor and Trent Claeys (Samantha Voy) of Cedar Rapids; his sister, Kaela Claeys of Altoona; and his grandparents, Ron and Audrey Yardley of Marengo, Ron and Sherry Dietze of Marengo and David Claeys (Linda Kuba) of Victor.
He was preceded in death by his father, Chad Dietze; an uncle, Tracy Dietze; and his grandmother, Linda Claeys.
Corey Jay Yardley was born Sept. 18, 1988, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Chad Dietze and Wendy Yardley. He graduated from Iowa Valley High School with the class of 2007 and attended Kirkwood Community College for two years.
Corey enjoyed working with special-needs people. He was a talented retail salesman. He was a coach and umpire for the MRC program in Marengo and had a passion for the Special Olympics. He was an avid Cubs, Hawkeyes and Bulls fan.
