Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 East Sixth St., Vinton, and one hour before service time at the church on Wednesday.
Art was born March 1, 1922, on the family farm two miles south of Vinton, to Glen and Hazel (Chapin) Corbett. His parents later divorced and his mother married Clifford Aldeman in 1945. Art attended school in Vinton and was a 1939 graduate of Lincoln High School.
He served his nation during World War II in the United States Army. While in the service he spent most of his wartime in upper France and Germany as a Tech. Sgt. with the 275th - 70th Infantry Division.
Art was united in marriage to Katherine “Kay” Claybaugh on Jan. 3, 1948. Art spent most of his life on the family farm which was established in 1852, just six years after Iowa became a state. The farm remains in the same family some 160 years later. Art and Kay spent over 15 years wintering in Venice, Fla. He loved spending time with his family, especially at holiday gatherings and other special occasions. He enjoyed each of his grandchildren and welcoming each new great-grandchild. He and Kay enjoyed taking quiet drives across Iowa and many trips across the United States in their mobile home and following family members participating in RAGBRAI which he referred to as “Rag-Ride.”
He enjoyed memberships in the Farm Bureau, Geo. G. Luckey American Legion Post 57 and the Vinton Country Club where he enjoyed many years of golfing.
