Coppock, Michael J.
Michael J. Coppock, 46, formerly of Cedar Rapids, beloved son of Lee and Elaine, passed on to his eternal home on Sept. 11, 2013, in Sarasota, Fla. Memorial Service: 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at First United Methodist Church in Marion. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. Private family inurnment will be at a later date at Springville Cemetery.
Michael was born July 27, 1967, the son of Lee Coppock and Elaine (Montgomery) Coppock. Mike graduated from Linn-Mar High School in 1986. He moved to Sarasota in 1990 and began learning the construction trade, beginning as a pipe layer and gradually working his way up to equipment operator and then to foreman. He recently started his own handyman business. Mike enjoyed helping people with their home maintenance and repairs. He was hard working, conscientious in doing a job right and always excited to learn new skills.
Mike was a people person who loved the simple joys of life. He was an easy person to love and laugh with and was always cheerful. He lived life to the fullest in the time that he had. His life was not always smooth, but he was deeply loved by his family and friends. He knew the Lord and is at peace with Him now.
Survivors include his parents of Marion; his sister, Lynn Lewis and husband Kurt Holub; and his nephew, T.J. Lewis, all of Cedar Rapids; three aunts, an uncle and five cousins.
Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alfred and Wilma Coppock and Herbert and Lucile Montgomery.
Memorials should be directed to the First United Methodist Church in Marion in Mike's memory.
