Coonfare, Arladene
Arladene Coonfare, 93, of Bertram, died Thursday, April 14, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Celebration of Life: 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 17, at Bertram Town Hall, Bertram. Private burial will be at a later date in Campbell Cemetery, Bertram. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. Survivors include her children, Susie (Dan) Shulgin of Cedar Rapids, Winnie Alger of Bertram, Betty Hall of Bertram, James (Mickey) Coonfare of Swisher, and Mary (Larry) Coonfare of Cedar Rapids; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; a brother, James Brown of Cedar Rapids; and sister-in-law, Angeline Brown of Bertram.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a son, Herbert P. Coonfare; two brothers; and one sister.
Arladene was born May 5, 1917, in Mount Vernon, Iowa, the daughter of Gus and Flossie (Johnson) Brown. On Jan. 1, 1938, Arladene was united in marriage to Herbert A. Coonfare in Elkader, Iowa.
She enjoyed feeding and watching the birds, and fishing. Family was very important to Arladene. She was a member of Bertram Methodist Church.
