Constance (Connie) Elaine Wehr, 87, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2025, at The Gardens of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, is assisting the family with arrangements.
A private service will be held at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Connie was born October 22, 1937, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the middle child of Laurence and Ruth (Knudson) Thompson. After graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs, Class of 1955, she worked for World Insurance, where she was recognized for her typing acumen, both speed and accuracy. While attending a dance in Oakland, Iowa, with some co-workers, she met Navy veteran Donald Wehr. It was love at first sight, and they were married on August 23, 1958. The couple shared 33 years of marriage until Don’s untimely death in January 1992.
Preparing special family holiday dinners was one of her favorite activities, along with reading, crossword puzzles, and walking. Connie applied her administrative skills working at Wehr Appraisal Company with Don when the kids were in school. Away from the office, Connie and Don had memorable trips to Acapulco, and she continued to see the sights from car rides and trips with her kids.
Connie is survived by her five children: Gerald (Vonda) Wehr, Sherri (Karen Daneu) Wehr, Karen (Mark) Camalieri, Daniel Wehr, and Lisa French; and four grandchildren: Andrew French, Johnathan Camalieri, Anna Beth Wehr, and Alex Wehr. Many nieces and nephews remember her dry wit and quick smile.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don; her brother, Robert Thompson; and her sister, Marilyn Thompson
