Conrad, Leona C.
Leona C. Conrad, 96, of Lowden, died March 30, 2011, at the Clarence Nursing Home. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 4, at Zion United Church of Christ, Lowden, with the Rev. Mark Buck officiating. Burial: St. John's Cemetery, Clarence. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence.
Born Feb. 3, 1915, in Clarence, Iowa, daughter of Henry and Sophie (Deerberg) Helmold, she married Elmer Conrad on Aug. 8, 1937, in Clarence. He died in 1992.
She was a very active member of Zion United Church of Christ Church, Women's Fellowship, Lowden Senior Citizens, Sunday Night Singles and Zion Quilters. Leona liked playing cards, gardening, quilting, and most of all her family.
Survivors include her daughter, Marilyn (Alden) Klahn of Lowden; son, Merlin (Carma) of Lowden; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; twin brother, Leonard; brother, Herman; infant sister, Norma; and infant son, Roland.
