Connor Dean Tharp, 17, of Ames, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2014. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, at Cornerstone Church, 56829 U.S. Highway 30, Ames.
Connor was born April 19, 1997, to Todd DeWayne and Angela Marie (Brende) Tharp in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Connor played football at Waverly-Shell Rock and after moving to Boone, he was a member of the youth group at Grace Community Church, the Boone County Sportsman Club, the Mossberg Gun Club and on the golf, swimming and wrestling teams for the Boone Community School District. Connor was currently a junior at Ames High School, where he was a member of the track and field Team. Connor was also a member of the New Pioneer Gun Club in Waukee, participating on their Clay Crusher Team. Connor attended Cornerstone Church in Ames and enjoyed going to Hidden Acres Christian Center near Dayton and sportsman camps in the summer.
Connor is survived by his parents, Todd and Angela Tharp of Ames; two brothers, Brett and Mason, both of Ames; his grandparents, Terry (Ina) Brende and Jerry (Carol) Tharp; two uncles, Aaron Brende and Jamie (Staci) Tharp; one aunt, Therese (Jim) Plummer; and three cousins, Sadie Tharp, Abby Tharp and Hannah Plummer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the family.
