Donald L. Connolly, 55, of Independence, died Thursday, April 26, 2012, at his home in Independence.

Don was born Oct. 12, 1956, in Independence, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Dorothy (Fischels) Connolly. He attended St. John's Catholic Schools. He married Roxie Yearous on Nov. 20, 2011. The couple made their home in Independence He and his brother, Ron Connolly owned and operated the Buchanan Masonry Co.

He is survived by his wife, Roxie Connolly, Independence;, two children, Candi (Ray) Kidd, Waterloo, and Melissa (Shane Manson) Briggman, Manchester; two grandchildren; Chanel Kidd and Clayton (little Don) VandeVoorde; his mother, Dorothy Connolly, Independence; two sisters, Cathy (Denny) Gilson and Patty (Steve) Esch; and a brother, Ron (Dawn) Connolly, all of Independence.

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Connolly on Oct. 4, 1993.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, with Mrs. Sharon Bainbridge officiating. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home, where a rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. Sunday.
