Connie Sue Low, 52, of Iowa City, formerly of Tama, passed away, Friday, March 17, 2023, at her home in Iowa City, due to a sudden illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 22, at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama, with Pastor Paul Rendall officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 22, at the funeral home.
Connie was born on Nov. 14, 1970, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Marvin and Mary Jean (Novotny) Low. Connie graduated from South Tama High School in 1989. After high school, she worked at the Tama Paper Board before entering college. Connie graduated from the University of Iowa majoring in journalism. From there, she enrolled in Kirkwood Community College and graduated with a paralegal degree. After college, Connie worked as a paralegal in Rock Island, Ill., Cedar Rapids and Amana. She was an avid animal lover taking a special interest in rescuing and caring for neglected animals. Connie loved to garden, read and do home improvement jobs at her home in Iowa City, at her rental house and for her mother. She also loved playing board games and putting together puzzles with her mother. Connie took great pride in being the president of her condo association where she resided in Iowa City.
Survivors include her mother, Mary Jean Low of Tama; her pet cats, Pebbles and Chole; and several uncles, aunts and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin Low on Feb. 14, 2007; and her grandparents.
A memorial fund will be established.
