Connie Alfred Peal, 78, of Marion, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2016, at his home. Family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion followed by a brief prayer service starting at 7 p.m.
Survivors include his wife, Judith Peal; children, Deborah Evans, Renee (Mike) Flack, Denise (Rob) Nichols and Donald Peal; grandchildren, Johnny Reed, Melissa Peal, Candace Stoos, Derek Flack and Don Peal; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Dora Eden, Elma (Gary) Hepner, Delight (Richard) Holtz, Martha (Kenneth) DeMoss and Ruth (Joseph) Slaymaker; and brothers, Hubert (LaVerna) Peal and Lewis (Patricia) Peal.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Michael Reed; and sister, Clara Miller.
Connie was born Nov. 11, 1937, in Cedar Rapids, to Connie and Delight (Bigsby) Peal. After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force, he married Kathryn Grafton on June 11, 1960. He then married Judith Maive Schoon on May 13, 1989, in Marion. Connie was a steel worker for many years and was employed at Hiawatha Metal Fabricators and Star Equipment. He was a member of Eagle Lodge No. 709 and Moose Lodge No. 304. Connie loved the outdoors, especially flowers and vegetable gardens. He also enjoyed going on hikes and bike rides.
The family would like to thank St. Luke's UnityPoint Cancer Center and Dr. Fusselman.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Helen G. Nassif Community Cancer Center in Cedar Rapids.
