Connie J. Mercer, 65, of Hiawatha, died Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids, by Deacon Lanny Peterson of St. Pius X Catholic Church. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. A visitation will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include her daughter, Keri Nace Mercer, and her son, Dan Mercer, both of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Beverly (Frank) Glaser of Hiawatha and Diana Sindelar of Mar-ion; a brother-in-law, Bob (Karen) Mercer of Cedar Rapids; a sister-in-law, Nancy (Jim) Mercer of Marion; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Ronald Dean Mercer.
Connie was born Dec. 4, 1948, in Victor, Iowa, the daughter of Leslie and Evelyna (Saey) Nace. She married Ronald Dean Mercer on May 27, 1978, in Cedar Rapids. Connie retired from Hunter Specialties Co. as lead supervisor.
She was a generous and thoughtful person who enjoyed taking care of others, most especially her family.
She was very proud of her children and their successes.
Connie also enjoyed gardening and spending time with her beloved pets, Gidget, Midnight, Taffy and Keisha.
The family would like to thank the staff at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics ER and on 4JPW for the excellent care provided during Connie's last hours.
