Connie Christensen, 73, died Saturday evening, August 9, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 Thursday morning, August 14, 2025, at St. John Lutheran Church rural Monticello with interment in the North Madison Pioneer Cemetery at a later date. Pastor Caleb Schewe will officiate at the services. Friends may call from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello.
Surviving are her husband Keith, 2 children, Kelly (Kurt) Whiton, Joe (Angie) Christensen, 2 grandchildren, Will (Brooke) Whiton, Quinn (Ever Tobar) Whiton, a brother James Kennebeck and a sister-in-law Linda Kennebeck, many nieces, nephews, cousins and her dog Maxi. She was preceded by her parents, siblings, Bill Kennebeck, Bernie Kennebeck, sister-in-law Claudia Kennebeck, and in-laws, Boyd and Thelma Christensen.
Connie Marie Kennebeck was born February 10, 1952 at the Anamosa Hospital, the daughter of Edward A. and Ethel Remington, Kennebeck. She was a graduate of the Olin High School. Connie married Keith Christensen on March 14, 1970 at the First Presbyterian Church, Center Junction. They had two children they raised on Keith’s family farm.
Connie farmed with Keith for 20 years. She was a partner in Christensen Insurance Agency for many years. She worked at Cargill in Center Junction. Connie started her banking career in 1992 at Midland Bank, followed by several other local banks, ending her career at Ohnward Bank in Monticello and Onslow in 2018.
Connie was the choir director, trustee and Sunday School teacher, youth group leader and Elder at the Center Junction Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed reading, walking, watching movies, crocheting and spending time with her family, especially her grandkids.
