Connie L. Armstrong, 67, of Muscatine, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2015, in her home surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer. A celebration of life service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday,
July 25, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 211 Walnut St., Muscatine. Visitation will be Friday, July 24, at Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home in Muscatine from 3 to 7 p.m.

Connie was born Feb. 10, 1948, in Iowa City, the daughter of Ralph Gordon Janes and Louise Merriam Fricker. On July 26, 1987, she married Otis A. Armstrong Jr. at the Danforth Chapel in Iowa City.
In July 1970, she began working for Dr. E.W. House as a dental hygienist in Muscatine and continued in the practice with Dr. Nathan Olson. She retired in February 2015 after 45 years.
She was a Mary Kay beauty consultant for 34 years and a member of the Muscatine Symphony Orchestra. She loved playing the violin and was a member of the quartet "PALS."
As a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Muscatine, she served with the Altar Guild, church choir, vestry, jubilee committee, and started the annual church blood drive. She also was a member of Beta Sigma Phi.
Connie enjoyed bird watching, wild flowers and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed traveling and visited many countries in Europe and Japan. She cultivated a sense of inner peace and strength through the teachings of Prem Rawat.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Otis A. Armstrong Jr. of Muscatine; her daughter, Brooke Armstrong of Muscatine; her sister-in-law, Donna Janes of Iowa City; and her two nephews, Geoffrey Janes of Ames and Gregory Janes of Iowa City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents; and her brother, Gilbert A Janes.
