Condit, Josephine Rose
Josephine Rose Condit, 83, of Cedar Rapids, died at Mercy Medical Center on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Monday at St. Matthew Catholic Church, by the Rev. David Beckman. Interment: Mount Calvary Cemetery. A visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m., with a vigil service at 6:30 p.m. Arrangements are with Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Josephine is survived by her children, Doug Condit and Kathy (Chuck) Kamberling, both of Cedar Rapids; Kylee Harrington, John and Marine Lt. Jay Livingston, who always called her “Grandma Jo”; a sister, Mary McCumpsey of Arkansas; a brother, Joseph (Gayle) of Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; sister, Delores; and brother, Anthony.
Josephine was born April 3, 1928, in Cedar Rapids, to Fredrick and Josephine Scolaro. She married Donald Condit there on April 10, 1950. She was a volunteer at Mercy Medical Center for 30 years as well as a member of the auxiliary. She was an active member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and St. Bernadette Circle and volunteered her time to Alzheimer's, American Cancer Society and many other organizations.
Jo was always willing to lend a helping hand and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
