Comried, Mitchell 'Mitch'
Mitchell “Mitch” Comried, 46, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
He is survived by his mother, Ellen Manu; four brothers, Jim (Sheri) Comried, Steve Comried, Craig (Melissa) Lewis and George (Robinn) Lewis; and one sister, Susan Fields, all of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Dilyn.
Mitch was born Dec. 22, 1962, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Nelson Lewis and Ellen Comried. He worked as a mechanic at Hawkeye Auto. Mitch had a great passion for racing in Two Man Cruiser events in Vinton and Hawkeye Downs. He most recently won the Benton County Track Championship. Mitch also enjoyed working in his mom's yard and watching football, especially the Minnesota Vikings.
He was preceded in death by his father, Nelson; stepfather, Paul Manu; nephew, Gregory Frese Jr.; and his grandparents, Andrew and Dollie Comried.
A memorial fund has been established.
