Collins, Virgina May
Virginia May Collins, 82, of Plano, Texas, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, Garland, Texas. Williams Funeral Directors, 1600 S. Garland Ave., Garland, Texas, is handling arrangements.
Survivors include her children, Craig and spouse Dori, and Cynthia and spouse Jim; and grandchildren, Ben Collins, Sarah Collins, Cate Fuqua, JD Quinn and Abby Quinn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne.
Virginia Collins was born on August 27, 1928, in Dubuque, Iowa, to Dr. Vivian and Evangeline Vanderloo. A graduate of Dubuque High School, Virginia attended Drake University where she earned a degree in elementary education.Virginia married Wayne Collins on August 5, 1950. Virginia and Wayne Collins lived in Cedar Rapids, from 1956 to 1990. Before moving to Plano, Texas, in 2008, Virginia and Wayne Collins lived in Rio Verde, Ariz., for 18 years.
