Collier, Lloyd Beryl
Lloyd Beryl Collier, 82, of 5515 Klinger St. SW, Cedar Rapids, died Friday, June 18, 2010, in his home surrounded by his family. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Monday, June 21, at St. Ludmila Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Tom McDermott. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Chelo; children, Chris (Pat) Kistler of Mechanicsville, Linda (Juan) Trevino of Ely and Paula (Mark) Ekstrom of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Jaime (Brian) Bartunek, Brooke (Jeff) Boetticher, Tracy Ekstrom, Eric Voigt and Ben and Erin Kistler; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Joshua Bartunek and Metz Boetticher; sister, Jayne Christensen of Minnesota; and brother, Don Tufts of Marion.
Beryl was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Keith; and sister, Margaret.
Born March 13, 1928, in Iowa City, Iowa, Beryl was the son of Lloyd and Gladys (Smith) Collier. On June 14, 1952, he was united in marriage to Chelo Hernandez in Oelwein. He worked for Rockwell Collins for 30 years.
Beryl's family and especially his grandchildren were his life.
Beryl had a great sense of humor and wanted to be remembered as a “Prince of a Fellow and an all-around good egg!”
Memorials may be made in Beryl's memory to St. Ludmila Catholic Church.
