COLLEEN (TAYLOR) STUFFLEBEAM

Colleen (Taylor) Stufflebeam, 90, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018, at the Vinton Lutheran Home.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 26, at the Phillips Funeral Home chapel, 212 E. Sixth St., Vinton, with Pastor Jessica Crane-Munoz officiating. A visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be left for the Vinton Lutheran Home.
Colleen was born Aug. 10, 1928, near Novelty, Mo., the daughter of Norman Taylor and Margaret (Rogers) Taylor Egge. She moved with her family to Vinton at age 6. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Vinton in 1946 and from the University of Iowa in 1950. She was united in marriage to Kent Stufflebeam on Aug., 29, 1953, and they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in 2018. She was a teacher for 25 years, with 22 of those years serving the Iowa Braille and Sight Saving School in Vinton. She enjoyed acting in community theater and was active in local politics for many years. She always had a heart for children and animals.
After her retirement, Colleen and Kent spent several winters in Mesa, Ariz., spending time with their daughter and grandchildren. They traveled frequently over the years, and Colleen's favorite trip was to Ireland.
She is survived by her husband, Kent, of Vinton; her brother, Dana Egge, of Vinton; her uncle, Carroll Rogers, of Missouri; her daughter, Susan Hansen, of Phoenix; her granddaughter, Elisabeth Hansen, of Sydney, Australia; her grandson, Jeff Hansen, of Charlevoix, Mich.; and several cousins, nieces and nephews and their children.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her aunt, Leota Moubry.
