Colin "Mike" Carney, 72, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, is caring for Colin and his family.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 42 years, Jan; daughter, Kimberly (Ramiro) Rivera; three grandchildren, Stephen, Kristina and Aaron Washburn; and many grand fur babies.
Colin Michael Carney was born Feb. 6, 1944, in Cedar Rapids, to Clement and Audrey (Schwab) Carney. A lifetime resident of Cedar Rapids, he graduated from Jefferson High School. He worked at Rockwell Collins until his retirement in 2005. Mike enjoyed seeking out old toy cars and other toys. He enjoyed spending time with his treasured cocker spaniels, Molly, Toby, Ricky, Maggie and especially Reggie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Shannon Washburn; brother, Tom Carney; and great-granddog, Danny.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the doctors and awesome nurses at St. Luke's Intensive Care Unit.
