Cody Lee Marmet, 30, of Tiffin, died in a tragic accident in the early morning hours of June 1, 2024.
Cody was born on November 10, 1993, to Linda Maria Thompson and John Allen Marmet. From a young age, Cody loved being outdoors, had a deep compassion for animals, and could be found running wild around his mother’s farmhouse property in Tiffin.
Cody was known for his wonderfully kind, supportive, and caring spirit. He loved making those around him laugh and could easily fill a room with laughter using his quirky sense of humor. He was a devoted friend and was always there for others, no matter the situation – he could brighten anyone’s day with his infectious laughter.
Cody graduated from Clear Creek-Amana High School before studying to become an automotive mechanic. After ten years of working under the hood of cars, Cody became a seasonal worker at Kent Park – a park he loved so much. After his contract there had ended, he found a new profession, which he had found a true calling for, as a para educator at his alma mater. The day before he passed away, he dressed as Spider Man to lift the spirits of the kids he worked with on their last day of school. He was looking forward to the future, especially to getting a full-time position at Kent Park as a mechanic – the perfect mix of work he loved.
Cody was preceded in death by his mother, Linda Maria Thompson, his maternal grandparents, Dale and Helen Ziegler, his paternal grandmother, Viola Elizabeth Marmet, and his beloved pets, Rex (dog) and Sniffy (cat).
Cody is survived by his sister, Haley Lane Johannesen and her husband Brian and daughter Cecilia, his father John Allen Marmet, as well as his partner of 8 years, Kate Glynn Rich and their four cats - Simba, Queso, Minnie, and Chloe.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Bob White Shelter at Kent Park, west of Tiffin, Iowa, on Friday, June 7, from 4 to 7 p.m.
