Clyde Willis Hendricks, Jr. (J.R.), age 79, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025 at Hiawatha Care Center.
J.R. was born on August 8, 1946, in Winterset, Iowa, to Clyde and Velma (Hern) Hendricks. He graduated from Winterset High School in 1966 then attended a technical school in Des Moines.
After finishing his studies, Clyde settled in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, beginning his career with Collins Radio and eventually retiring in 2012 from Vector Corporation in Marion.
On September 2, 1967, he married Susan Westemeier and they shared 57 wonderful years together. Clyde was a true family man who enjoyed woodworking and walking his beloved dog Barney in the park. A devoted husband, caring father, and fun-loving grandfather, Clyde’s life was centered around his family, who were his greatest joy.
He is survived by his daughters Heidi (Steve) Keehner of Marion and Amy (Brian) Becker of Cedar Falls; four grandchildren, Jacob Keehner, Isaac Keehner, Daphne Becker and Lily Becker; and brother Leon (Barb) Hendricks of Seattle, Washington.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Susan.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Nancy Dean, Orville and Stephanie Thein for their continuous love and support.
In the end, Clyde found a loving home at Hiawatha Care Center. Emma, Kylee, and their amazing team treated Clyde as a beloved family member, referring to him as “Papa.” Our family will be forever grateful for the love and comfort the staff provided.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 14, for Clyde and Susan Hendricks at the Cedar Memorial Family Center from 3 - 6 pm, with a Catholic Prayer at 5 pm.
Online condolences may be made to the family at www.cedarmemorial.com under Obituaries.
