Clyde M. Deal, 93, of Hiawatha, passed away April 7, 2022. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, at Cedar Memorial Chapel Stateroom, Cedar Rapids. Visitation will also be held from
9 a.m. until time of funeral service 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, at Immanuel Baptist Church, Cedar Rapids. Interment with military honors at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Clyde was born on a farm in Fredonia, Kan., on April 20, 1928, to Charles and Lula Deal. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea. In 1950, He married Nona Hendry also from Fredonia, Kan. He worked for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kan., and in 1967 moved with his family to the Cedar Rapids area to work for Collins Radio. He retired in 1990. Clyde was a deacon at his church, Immanuel Baptist Church and enjoyed woodworking. He made many gifts for his family and friends. His family was very important to him; he will be missed by all who knew him.
Clyde is survived by his wife of 71 years, Nona; children, Daniel (Becky) Deal, Cindy (Robert) Homer, Leia (Dennis) Hinz and Brian (Rose) Deal; grandchildren, David Hinz, Steven Deal, Sarah Dearborn, Eric Deal, Jessica Harkey, Keaton Homer and Kyle Homer; great-grandchildren, Layne, Andrew, Adyran, Asher, Austin, Kate, Elijah, Emerson, Amara, Landon and Kaitlyn; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his six siblings and great grandson, Evan Harkey.
