CLIFFORD EDWARD RICE
Cedar Rapids
Clifford Edward Rice of Firestone, Colo., passed away March 27, 2016. Cliff was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Jan. 21, 1943, the son of Robert and Elizabeth Rice.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert; and nephew, Joseph Unrau.
Cliff is survived by his wife, JoAnn; his mother, Elizabeth Rice of Cedar Rapids; son, Gregg Rice (Linda) of McHenry, Ill.; daughter, Jody Alderman (John) of Lakewood, Colo.; son, Jami Harper of Cedar Rapids; sister, Mary Lou Unrau (James) of Colleyville, Texas; grandchildren, Julia Rice, Ali, Jake and Avery Alderman and Jazmyn, Jaxson and Jaezon Harper; niece, Susan English (Rob); and nephew, Todd Unrau.
Cliff had a successful career in the automobile business in Cedar Rapids; Longmont, Colo.; and Wheatland, Wyo. He was a good friend of Bill W. and had a huge impact on many lives in that fellowship all over the country.
Cliff was an accomplished athlete in his earlier years, culminating in a Hall of Fame, fast pitch softball career with several teams including Welty Way and Modern Piping in the 60s, 70s and early 80s. He enjoyed time with friends and family hunting, fishing, playing golf, watching Colorado Rockies baseball, Green Bay Packers Football, NASCAR and road trips with his wife, JoAnn. In later years, he loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events and extra curricular activities.
He was a loving husband, father, uncle and especially a loving and dedicated grandfather. His chocolate labs, Bill and Charlie, will miss him as much as the family and many friends he left behind.
Private services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Happy Trails Dog Ranch/Bounce Rescue, 18490 County Road 1, Berthoud, CO 80513; (970) 532-4040; or online at www.happytrailsdogranch.com or www.bouncerescue.org.
