Cliff was born July 21,

Cliff enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943. He served stateside and in Okinawa during World War II. He was honorably discharged from the Navy after the war, in 1946, when he returned to Cedar Rapids and joined Armstrong's Department Store. He remained employed at Armstrong's for 42 years until his retirement. He was Buyer Manager of the Men's Department most of the time he spent with Armstrong's.
Cliff and Deloris lived most of their lives in Cedar Rapids. They were very active and enjoyed church activities, traveling, and visiting family and friends. After his retirement, they spent winters in Hilton Head Island, S.C., and summers in Cedar Rapids. In 2011, they moved to Sun City Hilton Head in South Carolina to live full time. After Deloris's passing in 2019 Cliff moved into Indigo Pines Independent Living facility through 2020, then moved into Sprenger Nursing Home.
Cliff's wife Deloris preceded Cliff in death when she passed in August of 2019. Cliff and Deloris had been married 77 years. Cliff is survived by his five children, Karen (Dr. Martin) Wand of Seattle, Wash., Elaine (Glynn) Turner of Charlotte, N.C., Gary Egger of Willow Park, Texas, Greg (Carol) Egger of Alpharetta, Ga., and Laurie Egger of Luxembourg; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. All five of his children graduated from either Jefferson or Kennedy High Schools in Cedar Rapids.
