Cleva "Florene" Kula, 99, of Marion, Iowa, passed away Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022, at her home with her daughter by her side. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. There will be a private graveside service at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Florene was born April 27, 1922, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the daughter of Jesse and Hazel (Peterson) Lutz. She graduated from Anamosa High School in 1939 and was united in marriage to Frank Kula on Feb. 8, 1942. To this union, they were blessed with their daughter, Barbara. Florene worked for the telephone company for 35 years as a switchboard operator in Anamosa, later transferring to Cedar Rapids as a network administrator.
She had the joy of spending the last 35 years sharing her home and traveling extensively with her loving daughter.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Holt of Marion; three nephews, Gary, Ben and Ron Eby; and other extended, loving family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank; sister, Glendora Eby; and niece, Sharon Sterzenbach.
The family would like to thank all the residents and staff from Summit Pointe Senior Living Community and UnityPoint Hospice for their love, support and tender care given to Florene.
