Cleo Faye Brecht died on Sept. 20, 2022, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Private services will be held at Teahen Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery in Benton County, Iowa.
Cleo was born on April 7, 1941, in Marengo, Iowa, the daughter of Vernon and Mary (Heitmann) Gorsh. On Oct. 8, 1967, she married Gregory M. Brecht at Trinity United Church of Christ in Sumner Township, Iowa County, Iowa. Cleo was a farmwife.
Cleo is survived by her husband of 54 years, Gregory; daughter, Kathryn (Eugene) Gansemer; son, Ray (Julia) Brecht; four grandchildren, Adam, Luke and Rachel Gansemer and Yvonne Brecht; sisters, Helen Baetsle and Dorothy (Larry) Wade; sisters-in-law, Lisa Gorsh and Mary Brecht; and four nieces and five nephews.
She was preceded in death by brother, Merlin Gorsh; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Arnold “Butch” Baetsle Jr., Margaret Brecht and Corbin Brecht; and two nephews.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
