Clay, Richard K.
Richard K. Clay, 85, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, April 20, 2013, at his home after a brief illness. There will be no visitation. Private services and inurnment at Prairieview Cemetery in Gilman at a later date. Iowa Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include a son, Ron, and grandson, Eric, both of Cedar Rapids; two sisters Jean Simpson of Gilman and Donna Lawrence of Marshalltown; and two brothers, Fritz of Gilman and Charles of Chariton.
He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Kim; and a sister, Doris Walker.
Richard was born Aug. 28, 1927, in Gilman, the son of Leslie and Marie (Sawyer) Clay. He married LaVonne Doane on April 6, 1947, in Gilman. LaVonne passed away in 1999.
Richard was a welder at Lennox Industries for over 45 years, retiring in 1991. He proudly served in the Navy during World War II and enjoyed time spent with his friends and family.
