Clarke, Evelyn Fern

Evelyn Fern Clarke, 93, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at the Hiawatha Care Center, Hiawatha. Services: 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where the family will greet friends from noon until service time on Monday. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include two sons, Roger (Bonnie) Clarke of Oelwein and Loyal Clarke of Gassville, Ark.; three grandchildren, Christian (Traci) Clarke of Cedar Rapids, Jessica (Ron) Lovell of Central City and Jacob (Anna) Clarke of Independence; three stepgrandchildren, Sherry Thompson of Cedar Rapids, Michelle (Shawn) Gaines of Long Beach, Miss., and Michael (Leanne) McAfee of Forney, Texas; five great-grandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and former husband, William Clarke.

Evelyn was born April 1, 1919, the daughter of Albert and Minnie (Stewart) Grimm, in Deep River, Iowa. She moved to Cedar Rapids in the early 1930s and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1936. On Aug. 2, 1940, she married William Clarke.

On Aug. 27, 1959, Evelyn joined the Square D Co. in Cedar Rapids, retiring from there Oct. 1, 1981. She enjoyed square dancing for many years, sewing, crocheting and crafts.
